New trailer tomorrow and Rezzed games highlight!

We are almost there, our Alpha Gameplay Trailer will go live tomorrow (once the upload is finished and we manage to crawl out of bed that is!)

This weekend we attended Rezzed, as consumers rather than developers showing a game! but we managed to talk to some awesome press people from Rock Paper Shotgun/Wired/The Guardian and so on! They always have great feedback and really get us excited about showing people more updates!

One thing we love about going to these events is meeting other developers and talking to them about their games and development in general. We managed to play a bunch of games and would love to highlight a few that really got us excited!

ETHER ONE: http://ether-game.com/ and http://www.whitepapergames.com/site/

They are an amazing bunch of games that all offer something different from each other!

Our next update will be our Alpha Gameplay Video, so I will see you then with something long long overdue! <3!

Thank you all for your patience and constantly amazing support!

Status Update

It’s been a while since our last update, I think the best way to simplify this post I will do my best to answer a few common questions.

• Q: Where is the gameplay trailer? you said it would be done weeks ago!

• A: We have had to change what we are actually showing, we feel there is a fine line that we don’t want to cross, showing too much of a certain thing could really spoil the surprise when playing it for the first time yourself and obviously we don’t want to show too little! The gameplay trailer just needs a few more tweaks and additions, hopefully it will be done shortly after GDC as our hands are a bit tied until then.

• Q: What will actually be shown in the gameplay trailer?

• A: The gameplay trailer will focus more on Atmosphere and exploration with a tiny bit of enemy interaction, most of the gameplay trailer will be based in the public sector as it is one of the more complete areas that we have.

• Q: Is the game really going to be released in April?!

• A: Most probably not, when we wrote that date it was based on a very cut down small project, but since then the game has really developed into something that resembles a more complete experience. Right now I don’t want to speculate on the release date but let’s just say that it is still set to release in 2013, Sorry guys!

• Q: Early Alpha Access on Steam?

• A: Short answer is no, having early beta/alpha access to Routine just doesn’t work in our opinion, first experience and play through is so important!

• Q: Oculus Rift compatible?!

• A: We absolutely hope so! it just completely depends on whether UDK supports it or not!

Again, we are extremely sorry for the slow progress, we are honestly working as hard as we can without completely burning ourselves out. Thank you for all of the support so far guys and I know this won’t make up for it but here is a Wallpaper and a piece of concept art from the Hydroponics section of the game!

Thank you,

-Aaron

QnA video 03 – and PC Gamer!

Here is our third QnA video! while these videos may not be for everyone as they are quite long we really felt that a video response would be much more efficient for us to answer this many questions in the most direct way possible.

Thanks again for all of the awesome questions! there are a few we didn’t get a chance to reply to as they were asked after we did the video, but the next time we record a video I will make sure we answer those first!

Also last week we got a great write up in PC Gamer! check it out!

Greenlit, Community support and Funding!

Sorry for the radio silence over the last few months, Some of this is due to great news and some not so great! Jemma has been quite ill over the last few weeks that really took its toll on us, but she is back now and stronger than ever!

The reason we mention funding is because at this stage it is something we are looking at to speed up development by hiring a few freelancers, but it will also mean we can push the game a bit more and make Routine a better experience overall. Indie Fund will be our primary goal as we really appreciate the advice and expertise those guys could bring to the table it would also save us a lot of time as opposed to Kickstarter which would be our second goal if Indie Fund doesn’t like us ;(

Mick (our Audio Director) also did a talk about Routine at this year’s GCAP, there is no recording of the talk but it was a great experience and the game went down very well! (Thanks to Mick)

I guess I will start with thanking everyone that voted for us on Steam Greenlight, we were among the first 10 games to get greenlit and it is honestly thanks to you guys! Now we just need to finish the game! 🙂

And for everyone who would prefer a DRM free release we are currently in the talks with GOG.com as we are huge fans of what those guys are doing with distribution and their games catalogue, once we know more we will let you know!

Some more great news is also that we have moved into a flat together and are using the front room as our studio! so Development will be running a lot smoother from now on!

We have also been getting a huge response from the community and tons of great coverage, there have been a few bits of Routine inspired Art/Music! and I want to point out this AMAZING track made by Voyce from www.thegamernerdz.com

• Music Inspired by Routine

They also did an audio interview with us a few weeks before that.

• Gamernerdz Interview

As for coverage here are a few articles that really stood out!

• EDGE

• THE VERGE

• BITSCREED

• GAMESPY

• GAMEMUSE

• BRITISH INDIE

• MWEB

• GAMER SYNDROME

• SINGULARITY UNIVERSE

Our next goal will be finishing off our Vertical slice then getting in contact with Indie Fund and releasing a Gameplay trailer! Initially we wanted to have this done during November but due to all the setbacks we are aiming to have it done before Christmas!

Thanks for all of the support, we honestly appreciate it all! We will try and keep a more regular update going from now on!

Steam Greenlight and the Oculus Rift!

Update 10!

Hey everyone!
Got a recap for the week and some fresh news!
First off we are really, REALLY excited as we have just added Routine to the sexy list of games on Steam Greenlight!

Please help spread the word and we super appreciate any support! our main goal has always been to get onto Steam and we hope Greenlight will show us the way!

• Routine – Steam Greenlight  (Please vote here in the Greenlight link)

Our second announcement is that we have pledged on Kickstarter for two Dev kits of the Oculus Rift!

We are currently unsure how much support the non source version of the UDK license has for the Rift but it is something we would really love to use for Routine and if it is at all possible we will make sure Routine supports it!
The Oculus is a really exciting prospect for us! with our horror setting and full body awareness we really believe it will make Routine even more immersive!

Routine – Teaser

Today we are pleased to finally show off our debut teaser!

• On top of that we are pleased to announce that we now have an amazing audio director that goes by the name Mick Gordon! who has worked on such things as the Need for Speed series, Crysis 3, Dead Space 3, Medal of Honor Warfighter and our personal favourite, Edge of Twilight! Mick is a huge asset to the team, and has already helped us out tremendously in all areas!

• You can check some of Mick Gordon’s work out over at www.mick-gordon.com

• We do also now have a site for Routine over at www.routinegame.com it is a bit basic and crude at the moment as I am the one who managed to splice it together! I promise to get something a bit nicer up in the near future!

• We hope you guys like the teaser, please feel free to leave any comments or ask any questions on the Youtube video or head on over to our Twitter and Facebook!

Small Catch-up

Hey everyone!

Going to give a wee recap of what’s been happening over the last month!

But before that the Lunar team would love to congratulate the Curiosity Rover on officially landing on Mars! we were watching and are very inspired and a bit giddy! so please go check that out if you haven’t already.

First off we have been hard at work on our first Teaser 😀 really excited to post this up once it’s done!

During July we attended the Develop conference in Brighton for the Indie dev day.
This was a great experience for all of us and had the chance to meet some great people INCLUDING MARK REIN! and receive some interesting feedback!

After that we were kindly featured in the Guardian by Keith Stuart! <-LINK

Aaron did an interview over at Gamers Hideout with Ryan Archer. <-LINK

We were also previously covered by Chris Priestman at The Indie Game Mag <-LINK

Thanks for the support and coverage! 😀 its always great to receive some.

As for what the team is currently doing:

Pete is working on the AI, something we are all really pumped for!
Aaron is working on everything as per usual 😉
and I am working on something every good game needs, a SEWER ENVIRONMENT ON THE MOON!! it is a much darker environment than most of the Moon base, so It’s really enjoyable to make!.

That’s all for now, thanks for catching up with us and Teaser on its way soon!
